Gilbert grew up in East Vancouver and continues to call this community his home. After medical school at UBC, he completed his pediatrics residency in Ottawa and additional training at McGill University in pediatric global health. His passion for child health has taken him to India, Cambodia, South Africa and rural Nunavut.
Currently, Gilbert practises at Royal Columbian Hospital and BC Children’s Hospital where he also sits on the Mindfulness Council. He enjoys teaching medical students and resident doctors as a Clinical Instructor with the UBC Faculty of Medicine and as a supervisor for the UBC Global Health Initiative.
He is proud to be part of the South Hill team and strives to help children and families reach their full potential. Gilbert has a special interest in caring for underserved populations and making connections between physical and mental health.
Outside of work, he enjoys cycling, cooking and playing piano.
